Lifestyle Choices is teaming up with Center for Mind Body and Health and One Body One Choice to have our first Open House.  We will also be rolling out our Jump Start to Stress Reduction Program that evening. This program incorporates mindfulness, HeartMath®, practical living changes, nutrition, and exercise to create a healthy life- physically, mentally and emotionally.  You get a discount for registering that night so you will not want to miss this introductory offer!  (See attached flyer about our team)

What else is new at Lifestyle Choices?

Our new CoDependent Anonymous Group is starting Monday, January 12 in our Group Room at the office.  This will be held on Mondays from 5:30pm-6:30pm and is free and open to the public.  The only requirement is to have a desire to have healthy relationships. CoDA is a wonderful way to learn new life skills and a safe place in which to practice them.

If your way of living isn’t providing you with Happiness, why not try a different way?  What’s one hour and travel time in the scheme of your life?

De-selfing

According to Dr. Harriet Goldhor Lerner in The Dance of Anger, “de-selfing means that too much of one’s self (including one’s thoughts, wants, beliefs, and ambitions) is ‘negotiable’ under pressures from the relationship.”  Unfortunately de-selfing eventually takes its toll.  Dr. Lerner further states, “The partner who is doing the most sacrificing of self stores up the most repressed anger and is especially vulnerable to becoming depressed and developing other emotional problems.”

Many of the people I work with (especially women in their 40s and 50s) have no idea who they are and what they enjoy doing.  They can tell me what they do or have done as mothers or wives or in their jobs but are absolutely flabbergasted when it comes to telling me who they are.  This generally starts out at a young age as “people-pleasing.” It becomes such an ingrained habit, people forget what it is they want and gradually lose themselves.

Does this describe you?  If you are immersed in numerous commitments and activities which do not enhance your life or bring you happiness, you may be unconsciously participating in people-pleasing.

Did you notice I said this was a habit? The good news is habits can be broken and you too may experience joy in your life after learning new communication skills to replace this ineffective one.

Choose TODAY to alter your habit.  Call me at 713.443.9400
